After a short and involuntary hiatus, Chris is once again thumping away on the double bass.  He uses a 1942 Kay C-1 that has been expertly restored by the fine craftsmen at Upton Bass.  It is strung up with Eudoxa E/A strings, Oliv D string, and a Clef full gut G string for that traditional sound, which suits jazz, the acoustic blues, and Americana.  Amplification is achieved through a Revolution II Solo pickup, Euphonic Audio iAmp Micro, and Bergantino AE112.

For electric work, Chris uses various four string Fender Basses.  All are strung with flatwound strings, yet each bass in his arsenal exhibits unique tonal characteristics.  His most frequently used basses include a Custom Shop '64 Jazz Bass Relic (pictured to the right), a '62 Reissue P-Bass, and a Fretless MusicMan Stingray.

Amplification for electric bass guitar will be chosen to suit the venue.  Recently he has been giving favor to an Orange AD200-B/MK3 and OBC115 setup.  Studio sessions get either a 1962 Fender 6G6-B Bassman or more likely a 1972 B-15N.  If required Chris also has a Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II and Ampeg SVT, as well as other smaller cabinets.
